A small mural/sign for our school’s Culinary Teacher. Finally painting it all in, have had the idea drawn out since last year…
(on canvas roll, painted with acrylic/house paint)
This is an example of what the iPad application ArtRage can do. It realistically mixes paint and recreates an accurate texture of paint. I plan on playing around with it more and attempt to create an entire artwork just using this program. But first I need a better stylus for the iPad…
The fictional Blue Schooner Craft Beer Magazine is coming along, here is an Advertisement I made and a sample of the Op Ed page and Table of Contents. The Ad is for this bicycle that is also a mobile bar with a keg, tap and all, pretty damn cool. The company, Metrofiets, is from Portland, Oregon… where else? Anyway, magazine is due Monday and I still have a lot to do. Mostly details to make it looks more realistic. I would like to add a Masthead to the left of the Op Ed page. Need to make up a staff, maybe there should be a mobile bar bike driver department.
Was listening to iPad Today on the TWiT Network and I heard about a cool drawing app called ArtRage. It is similar to many of the other drawing apps I have come across, like Sketchbook and Paper, but this one has one special feature. It can actually mix colors! It does a great job of realistic mixing. When you are using the paintbrush tool, your paint strokes remain “wet” and you can use another color and blend them together. The pallet knife tool also creates a realistic effect with sharp edges and will be useful for any Bob Ross style paintings you want to draw on your iPad. Still playing around with this app but I highly recommend it!
Here is the developer’s site: http://www.artrage.com/
There are Mac, PC, iPad and iPhone versions.
This is a sample article (6 page spread) for the Blue Schooner project. The articles were pulled from online sites just to fill in text for the design. I figured since this is a Craft Beer magazine, a main article could be about the trend of canning craft beer. This is only a rough, I still need to add page numbers and fix a few rough cuts of images. Feel free to critique!
Current project in my Page/Layout Design class, we had to come up with a fictitious magazine, and somehow incorporate the word “blue” into the title or theme. I decided to do a magazine on Craft Beer and I called it the Blue Schooner. We are primarily using InDesign for our layout and some Illustrator for logos. I am upset that I never bothered to learn how to use InDesign before this, it is a dream to work with! Here are some rough ideas for the magazine and logo:
The portfolio section is complete for now, as I create more things I will post them and update the page. I will also post progress on whatever projects I am currently working on.
Updating my site, be patient!
I will hopefully adding more and more to each section and be finished before summer.
